What’s the fastest way to kill the vibe on set?
Asking out loud: “So… what are we still waiting for?”
If you had to shoot a film with only one lens forever, which one survives?
Of course a zoom, with the widest focal range possible. That way I’ve got all my lenses packed into one barrel. Problem solved ;)
Have you ever kept a mistake in the final cut because it felt too good to remove?
They weren’t mistakes. They were treasures, accidentally discovered along the way.
Do you enjoy being under pressure, or do your best ideas come when nobody expects anything from you?
If nobody expects anything from me, it usually means I’ve got nothing to do. And I actually love what I do, so I’ll take that healthy, mind-refreshing pressure anytime, as long as we’re all on the same page.
What’s one filmmaking rule you love breaking?
Deconstructing anything that comes with a rule attached to it is pretty much the only rule I follow. It’s how I make sure I never get bored.
Have you ever fallen in love with a location before even knowing what story belongs there?
Honestly, almost any stylistic element, a location, a person, a sound, or even just a color has, at some point in my creative journey, become a love trigger for starting making a movie.
